It is with a light heart that I write to you all once more; a pleasant change from the previous disappointment with my rude colleague.
Yesterday I decided to finally find out what the all the hubbub and tomfoolery about macarons (or macaroons) is. Now, many love this treat and others simply don't like it. My opinion: from what I had, they're great!
At their initial appearance, they were rather hard to find and were only available at (expensive) pâtisseries, I am lead to believe that they're now quite easy to find here in Cape Town. I was given an option of going to two possible places: Daniela's or Cassis and, due to proximity, I chose to pay a visit to the latter
The macarons were quite reasonably-priced, at R6 per unit, and a nice selection of flavours was available, including: Raspberry, Chocolate, Pistachio and Vanilla. And they came in this adorable little box:
Now I'm not going to go all-out and say that the taste was exquisite and that I had some sort of strange mouth-orgasm and taste sensation and whatever else the superficial food-blogging bunch love to say when doing their food reviews, but I will say this: what I had was really, really good! Especially the chocolate-flavoured ones.
So instead of me ranting on and on and on and on, I urge you to pay either of the above stores a visit, whichever is closer, and treat yourself.
That's all for now.
